POSITION SUMMARY
Forum is looking for a Director of Tax to join a small, high impact in‑house tax team. This role is responsible for handling a wide range of tax matters across our real estate and private credit platforms.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. The Director of Tax will manage important tax workstreams, support deal activity, help answer investor questions, and make sure our tax processes run smoothly and accurately.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, think critically, and take initiative, while also being a strong partner to leadership and other teams across the company.  This is a highly visible role designed for a tax professional who demonstrates strong technical execution with sound judgment and leadership potential.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Own Key Tax Workstreams

  • Serve as a primary owner of tax matters for partnership‑based investment vehicles, managing work from start to finish, including:
    • Private credit funds with tiered partnership structures
    • GP and related‑party investment vehicles
    • Property‑level partnerships and TIC structures, including property sales, refinancings and capital restructurings
    • Ground‑up development projects
  • Identify tax risks and areas of ambiguity and drive alignment across teams to ensure clear ownership, accountability, and timely resolution
  • Manage timelines and coordinate with accounting, operations, and external advisors to complete tax work accurately and on time

Support Transactions and Business Decisions

  • Help evaluate the tax impact of new deals and investment structures
  • Work with the tax team to think through how tax considerations affect business decisions
  • Prepare and present clear, practical analyses that help senior leaders and non-tax team members understand the issues

Tax Reporting and Investor Support

  • Share responsibility for annual tax compliance and K‑1 delivery across a large and diverse investor base
  • Serve as a first line reviewer for partnership tax reporting issues
  • Respond to investor and advisor questions about tax reporting in a clear and practical way

Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy with appropriate escalation of high‑risk issues
  • Split responsibilities with the Tax Manager in a collaborative model, with the Director of Tax expected to absorb increasing ownership of complex workstreams

Technology, Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability in leveraging technology, including AI‑enabled tools, to improve tax processes, documentation, and recurring workflows.
  • Evaluate and enhance tax processes with an eye toward standardization, automation, and reduction of manual effort and rework

EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Required

  • 10+ years of relevant tax experience, including experience with fund structures, tiered partnerships, and transaction‑driven tax work, with extensive exposure to real estate and/or private credit investment structures
  • Strong background in partnership taxation and complex allocations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Mix of public accounting and in‑house experience
  • Exposure to REIT concepts and compliance
  • Experience interacting with senior leaders and investors and managing external advisors

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Travel is required.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Base salary range is $150,000 to $185,000. This range is estimated for this role; actual pay may be different.
