Job Title

Senior Associate - Development Analyst

Posting Duration: This posting will close at the end of November and will only be extended if we need to see more candidates to fill the position.

Position Summary:

The Development Analyst role will collaborate with the Development Team in all aspects of the development process, including feasibility assessment, acquisition, financial modeling, financing, zoning/entitlements, permitting, construction, leasing, delivery and disposition. Position will also involve miscellaneous tasks related to existing projects. Analyst will encounter a variety of roles ranging from high-level decision making to maintaining detailed project coordination and organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Creating and modifying development models, budgets, and proformas to assess potential developments and assist in ongoing development of existing projects
  • Analyzing and comparing complex partnership agreements and project capitalization options
  • Preparing investment memoranda and other presentations for internal investment review, to raise equity and secure debt
  • Assist in the preparation of various ad-hoc analyses and materials to facilitate the development and finance teams
  • Coordinate and gather industry and market information including comparable rent/sales data, operating expenses and other pre-development costs
  • Assist in the preparation of investment committee memorandums
  • Participate in the pipeline and investment/development selection with upper management
  • Other duties as needed and requested

Education & Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (Real Estate, Economics or Finance preferred) or equivalent work experience required
  • 3-5 years minimum hands-on experience as an analyst and/or underwriter at a commercial real estate firm, financial institution, special servicer or fund preferred
  • Must be proficient in cash flow modeling and understanding financial statements
  • Strong organizational skills with a sharp attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and driven, ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast moving, demanding and dynamic
  • environment
  • Detail oriented and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience with commercial real estate finance a plus

Preferred Skills:

  • Exceptional excel modeling skills including dynamic monthly proformas, sensitivity tables, construction loans and equity waterfalls. Advanced Microsoft Excel (v-lookup, macros, and pivot tables) are desirable.
  • Knowledge of development fundamentals; including the process, proforma, design, financing, permitting, construction, and project management.
  • Good eye for detail and graphic design to help create compelling presentations for investment offerings, internal approval process, financing, and entitlement presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively coordinate portions of a project to leverage team effectiveness.
  • Motivation to self-start and handle multiple tasks for multiple projects concurrently.
  • Resourcefulness to independently dig for market data from various sources and relationships.
  • Detail-oriented, but ability understand and communicate the bigger picture through clearly summarized written and verbal communication.

Compensation Information:  Base salary range is $90,000 to $120,000. This range is estimated for this role; actual pay may be different.
